A woman asked her lover about hope and the meaning of love.
When she said she wanted to become the most beautiful flower in the world, he said he wanted to be the sun.
She didn’t understand. Why the sun, and not a butterfly or a bee that could always stay with the flower?
When she said she wanted to be the moon, he said he would still remain the sun. Even though the sun and moon could never meet, he wished to remain the sun.
When she said she wanted to become a Phoenix, soaring high above the sun, he still insisted he would remain the sun.
For a moment, she smiled bitterly and felt disappointed. She had changed three times, yet he remained stubborn, wanting to be the sun without willing to change with her.
So she left and never returned, never knowing why he insisted on being the sun.
If only she had known…
When she became a flower, he wanted to be the sun so that the flower could live and flourish. The sun gives all its light to help the flower grow into its full beauty.
Even though the sun could only watch from afar, and the butterflies would dance with the flower in the end, this is called love, giving selflessly.
When she became the moon, he remained the sun so that the moon could shine beautifully and be admired.
The moon’s beautiful light is only the reflection of the sun, yet all creatures admire the moon while the sun’s contribution is often forgotten.
The sun willingly gives its light to the moon, even if it cannot enjoy the moon’s glow, a sacrifice, painful yet worthy, for love.
When she became a Phoenix, soaring far above the sun, he still wished to remain the sun, so she could fly freely without restriction.
The sun lets the Phoenix go far, yet keeps its love burning in its heart only for the Phoenix.
The sun is always there for the Phoenix, even though the Phoenix is not always there for the sun. No other creature besides the Phoenix can enter the sun and receive its love.
This is called faithfulness, even when abandoned or betrayed, it continues to wait and forgive.
“There is truly no regret in loving like the sun.”
